Effect of mitomycin C therapy on dacryocystorhinostomy

Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of mitomycin C(MMC)therapy on dacryocystorhinostonmy,Method 41eyes of chronic dacryocystitis were randomly divided into 18 of MMCgroup with MMC 0.4mg/ml druing operation and 23 of control group without MMC therapy.Average follow up period was 30 months postoperatively.Resulits Cure rates were 94 11% in MMC group and 78 26% in control group respectively( P 0 05) Conclusion MMC could be conducted as a safe,simple,and effective adjunctive drug which was applied during the operation of dacryocystorhinostomy,and significantly highlighted new made passage unobstructed possibility in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis
