High School Students' Stress Coping Styles and Their Relevance with Academic Achievement

Abstract

Using the questionnaire of middle school students' stress coping styles,we explored the characteristics of 649 high school students' coping styles of stress when they are faced with frustrations and troubles,and the relationship between the coping styles and academic achievement.The results are as follows.(1)There are evident sex differences in venting,illusion and endurance coping styles;(2) There are evident differences in problem solving,wince and illusion coping styles between different types of school;(3) There is no difference between students coming from the city or the countryside while there are differences in problem solving between those in different family atmosphere,and significant differences in problem solving and illusion coping styles between students with different parental rearing patterns;(4) Students' academic achievement has significantly positive correlation with problem solving coping style.
