Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of acupuncture at fengchi and tianzhu on vertigo of vertebrobasilar insufficiency (VBI).Methods 120 cases of VBI were devided into two groups,60 cases in each group. The cases of acupuncture group were treated with acupuncture at fengehi and tianzhu, once a day,6 times totally. The control group was treated with nimodipine by iv drip.Clinical symptoms and the average blood flow rates of left vertebral artery (LVA),right vertebral artery (RVA) and basilar artery(BA) detected by transcranial TCD before and after treatment were investigated. Results The total effective rate of acupuncture treatment on eliminate vertigo symptoms, one time treatment was 93%,6 times treatments were 98%.Acupunture treatment can improve the flow rate of vertebrebasilar ar- tery.At the acute stage, acupuncture had the better effect than control(P0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture at fengehi and tianzbu had obvious therapeutic effect on vertigo of vertebrebasilar insufficiency, especially at acute stage.
