Observation of the effect of Banxia Baizhu Tianma decoction on atherosclerotic plaque in carotid artery

Abstract

Objective It is to observe the effect of Banxia Baizhu Tianma decoction on atherosclerotic plaque in carotid artery.Methods 53 cases of patients with atherosclerotic plaque in carotid artery were randomly divided into two groups.The treatment group(28 cases) was treated with Banxia Baizhu Tianma decoction and the control group with Atorvastatin only.Both the treatment courses were 20 weeks.Results After treatment the clinical symptoms of the patients in treatment group were obviously improved,atherogenic index(AI),IMT,plaque volume and pulsatility index(PI) were decreased,while mean blood flow rate was increased.Compared with the control group,the differences were significant(P0.05).Conclusion Banxia Baizhu Tianma decoction has an anti-function on atherosclerotic plaque in carotid artery.
