Abstract

Embodied philosophy is the philosophical basis of cognitive linguistics, which is a way to describe language through the cognition of the world and human body.Meanwhile, people shift their ways of studying metaphor from traditional rhetoric to cognition. Thus, this brings metaphor to the scope of thoughts and cognition.Body metaphor,as one of metaphors, establishes its motivation of word-making by metaphorizing human organs and describing the abstract concepts with basic words, modifying words, reiterative locution, synonymous, repetition, converse and idioms.Apparently,it proves to be one successful example of the appliance of embodied philosophy to linguistics.
