Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relevance between brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV) and estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR) in elderly type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) people. Methods: baPWV was used as indices to diagnose arterial stiffness. And eGFR was used to assess renal function.168 patients with T2DM,eGFR≥60 mL/(min·1.73 m2),no clinical proteinuria were included in the study. The patients were divided into A Group[eGFR90 mL/(min·1.73 m2)]and B Group[eGFR60~90 mL/(min·1.73 m2)].The difference of the two groups was compared. The correlation between baPWV and eGFR was analyzed. Results: The AGE,SBP,DBP,TG,TC,PCr,BMI,FPG,baPWV in B Group were higher than those in A Group(P0.05).For the correlation analysis,baPWV was positively correlated with AGE,BMI,SBP,DBP,baPWV,TG and was negatively correlated with eGFR(P0.01).With decline of eGFR,baPWV thickened gradually.Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed a negative relation between baPWV and eGFR,and a positive relation between baPWV and AGE,SBP(P0.01).Conclusion:The normal and early decline of eGFR are an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis in elderly type 2 diabetic patients.
