A Tentative Study of Task-based Teaching in College English Teaching

Abstract

Task-based approach is a hot theme in foreign language classroom teaching and research. This article explores some suggestions the reformation of teaching mode in College English Teaching by using social constructivism and input and interactionist hypothesis theory. Main characteristic of task-based teaching is to design the real-life tasks according to certain teaching target, encourage and conduct students to participate in these tasks and finish them in the end. Introducing knowledge teaching into a task which needs to be done by oneself makes students not only learn the English knowledge, but also experience how to do something and its fun. Therefore, students can improve their own ability to use English.
