Abstract
[Objective] To examine the expression level of IGF-2 and Ki-67 in breast cancer and analyze the relationship between IGF-2 and the proliferation of breast cancer cells.[Methods] The expressions of IGF-2 and Ki-67 were detected in 40 breast cancers by immunohistochemical technique.[Results] The strong positive expression rate of IGF-2 in breast cancer was significantly higher than that of breast fibroadenoma and breast hyperplasia tissue(P0.05),though the difference of positive expression was not found between breast cancer and the other two groups.The expression of IGF-2 was positively correlated with the one of Ki-67 in breast cancer.In breast cancer tissue,the expression of IGF-2 in lymph node matastasis and tumor diameter2 cm was significantly higher than that of no lymph node metastasis and the lesion diameter≤2 cm groups,respectively.There are no difference in IGF-2 expression between ages,histologic types and hormone receptor status.[Conclusions] The high expression of IGF-2 may be one of the pathogenesis of breast cancer.IGF-2 is a possible important factor in metastasis of breast cancer.IGF-2may have the function to facilitate breast cancer cell proliferation.
