Abstract
As the basic unit of a language, words with rich cultural connotation often reflect the features of different nations.Due to the differences between Chinese and English cultures, some words with the same referential meaning load different associative meanings.Based on Leech's theory of Semantics, this paper makes a comparative analysis of the pragmatic value of the associative meaning as well as the non-corresponding association of the same signified in Chinese and English languages, which helps to make cross-cultural communication smooth.
