Intercultural Study on the Animal Word Meaning in English and Chinese Idioms

Abstract
From the collected evidence,the article lists many examples to analyze the meaning of both English and Chinese animal idioms in the following four aspects: same conceptual meaning and same/similar associative meaning;same conceptual meaning and different associative meaning;same conceptual meaning and vacancy of associative meaning;different conceptual meaning and same associative meaning.The study proves that animal idioms not only embody meaning equivalence under the principle of universal culture,but also indicate different animal image from varied cultural factors.
