Abstract

Kan Zhenzhao pursued the Confucian ideal of becoming an official before he went to the capital to take the examination.His calligraphy up to this year was in an externalized-Confucianism cursive style,elegant,profound and magnificent.After failing the examination,especially after his reclusion,he held strong to Taoism and his calligraphy showed a style of free and easy elegance,peace and serenity.Later after he took office again,his cursive writing became poised,stately,and fluent.
