Abstract
Objective To investigate the influence of atorvastatin on nitric oxide(NO)and malondialdehyde(MDA)of the sepsis rats. Methods A total of 75 male rats were randomized into three groups. The control group was treated with sham-operation.The sepsis group was made with cecal ligation and puncture(CLP).The atorvastatin group was feeded on 40 mg/kg atorvastatin, then the rats were made with CLP.The blood and hepatic tissue samples were separately colleced in postoperative 0 h,2 h,6 h,10 h,24 h in three groups, and the levels of NO and MDA were measured through the spectrophotometera. The specimens of the heart, lung, liver and jejunum of rats were dyed and the tissue pathology was observed under light microscope at 24 h after operation. Results In atorvastatin group, the concentration of NO significantly decreased(P0.01)in comparison to the sepsis group after 6 h,10 h and 24 h,and the MDA were also significantly decreased in comparison to the sepsis group(P0.05 or P0.01).There was no pathological change in control group under the light microscope. In sepsis group, the specimens of the heart, lung, liver and jejunum were all immersed by different inflammatory cells, and hyperemia, necrosis and exudate were shown in the specimen tissue. Conclusion Atorvastatin may postpone the rising velocity of NO and MDA in sepsis rats, and reduce inflammatory reaction.
