Therapeutic efficacy of Chaihu Shugan powder in treatment of functional dyspepsia with qi depression:a report of 30 cases

Abstract
Objective: To observe the therapeutic efficacy of Chaihu Shugan powder,a preparation containing Bupleurum chinense for dispersing stagnated liver qi,in the treatment of functional dyspepsia with qi depression.Methods: A total of 60 cases of functional dyspepsia with qi depression were randomly divided into treatment group(n = 30) and control group(n=30).The treatment group received therapy with Chaihu Shugan powder,while the control group received therapy with domperidone.The therapeutic efficacy in either group was statistically analyzed after a course of treatment(14 d).Results: The total effective rate was 96.67% in the treatment group versus 70.00% in the control group(P0.01).There were significant differences in total symptom score and qi depression score between the two groups after treatment(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion: Chaihu Shugan powder can remarkably relieve symptoms,decrease qi depression score,and improve quality of life in patients with functional dyspepsia with qi depression.
