A clinical study on treatment of liver qi stagnation syndrome depression by chaihu shugan powder combined with venlafaxine

[Objective] To explore the efficacy of venlafaxine combined with Chaihu Shugan Powder in treatment of Liver Qi Stagnation Syndrome Depression.[Method] 63 patients suffered form major depression were randomly divided into two groups: the trial group(venlafaxine combined with Chaihu Shugansan treated group)and the control group(venlafaxine treated group).The Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and TESS were evaluated before treatment,two weeks and four weeks after treatment.[Result] After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment,HAMD evaluation of the trial group showed significant difference as compared with the condition before treatment and that of the control group(P0.05).TESS evaluation showed significant difference as compared with the condition of the control group(P0.05).[Conclusion] Venlafaxine combined with Chaihu Shugan Powder can not only relieve depression,but also take effect faster and decrease the side effects.
