Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of atraumatic restorative treatment by using high-strength glass ionomer in primary molars caries and root caries.Methods The children and old patients,who suffered from primary molars caries or root caries,were randomly divided into the ART group and control group.ART and the routine technique were used to prepare the cavities,respectively.The same glass ionomer cement was used as filling material in both groups.The fillings were followed up for 2 years.Results 95.83% of the children and 93.94% of the old patients would like to select ART rather than other treatment.The success rates of both ART group and control group showed no statistical difference(P0.05).Conclusion ART by using high-strength glass ionomer was a convenient and effective method to treat the primary molars caries and root caries.
