WANG Guo-wei's View on the Nature of Beauty

Abstract

Because of the different understandings about the nature of man, WANG Guo-wei's idea about the nature of beauty is not limited to Schopenhauer's aesthetics. By means of assimilating Schiller's, Kant's and classical Chinese aesthetics, WANG Guo-wei evolved his own view on the nature of beauty, that is, beauty (art) is the expression of sentiment and the symbol of morality.
