Abstract
Mitochondria produces ATP,and generates reactive oxygen species. The accumulation of individual oxygen free radical leads to the oxidative lesion of functional biomacromolecule in mitochondria, which makes the function of mitochondria decreased and the aging happened.Due to its specific structure and function,mtDNA is the most fragile target attacked by free radicals.which results in massive mutation accumulation and the aging process acceleration. The accumulation of mtDNA mutation in aging indicates that mtDNA mutation relates to the aging and degenerative illness.
