Abstract
Objective Whether the interference by fluoride (F) with human dental papilla mesenchymal cell(DPMC) could be altered by altering the levels of calcium(Ca) in the medium was investigated. Methods Human DPMCs were exposed to 10~2630×10 6 mol/L(0.2 50×10 6 g/L) of F in vitro for 6~72h in the presence of high levels(4.1,10×10 3 mol/L)of Ca. The activity and microstructure of the cells were examined by MTT colorimetric analysis and TE mol/L respectively. Results In the presence of 263,1315,2360×10 6 mol/L of F the activity of human DPMCs was inhibited and the microstructure was changed. 4.1×10 3 mol/Land 10×10 6 mol/L levels of Ca seemed to modify the F effect, whereas the modification was not obvious when F content was 2 630 ×10 6 mol/L.Conclusions The effects of F could be partially antagonized by high Ca.
