Abstract
The 1-azobenzene-3-(3-nitro-5-chloro-2-pyridyl)-triazene(ABNCPDT) as a chromogenic reagent was synthesized and its color reaction with copper has been investigated. In the presence of the surface active agent triton X-100 and in the Na_2B_4O_7-NaOH medium of pH 10.5,ABNCPDT forms a red complex with Cu(Ⅱ).The apparent molar absorbtivity of the complex is 1.48×10~5L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1) at an maxmium warelength of 540nm.The molar ratio of Cu(Ⅱ) to ABNCPDT is 1∶4.Beer's law is well obeyed in the range of 0—480μg/L for copper. The method has been applied to the direct determination of copper in aluminium alloys with satisfactory results.
