Abstract
1-Azobenzene-3-(3-nitro-5-chloro-2-pyridyl)triazene(ABNCPDT) was synthesized and its color reaction with nickel was investigated. In the presence of the surface active agent Triton X-100 and in the Na_(2)B_(4)O_(7)-NaOH medium of pH 10.5,ABNCPDT forms a red complex with Ni(Ⅱ).The apparent molar Absorbtivity of the complex is 1.86×10~(5) L ·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1) at 540 nm.The molar ratio of Ni(Ⅱ) to ABNCPDT is 1∶4.Beer′s law is well obeyed in the range of 0~480 μg/L for nickel. The method was applied to the direct determination of nickel in aluminium alloys with satisfactory results.
