Abstract
1-azobenzene-3-(5-cyano -2-pyridyl)-triazene (ABCPDT)as a chromogenic reagent was synthesized and its color reaction with copper has been investigated. In the presence of the surface active agent NP-10 and in the Na 2B 4O 7-NaOH medium of pH 11.0, ABCPDT forms a red complex with Cu(Ⅱ).The apparent molar absorbtivity of the complex is 1.43×10 5 L·mol -1 ·cm -1 at 535 nm(λ max ).The molar ratio of Cu(Ⅱ) to ABCPDT is 1∶3. Beer's law is well obeyed in the range of 0~480 μg/L for copper. The method has been applied to the direct determination of copper in alloy samples with satisfactory results.
