Abstract

The thoughts of the reform in the late Qing Dynasty originated in Gongyang School.Kang Youwei made an overall explanation on Confucius Reform of Gongyang School,and developed a system of Confucian classics studies which was well embodied with political significance and provided a theoretical basis for his reform advocation.This article begins from the Wen/Zhi conception of Gongyang School,on one hand,clarifies the thoughts of Confucius Reform inherited in the Confucianism and some misunderstandings of the later-coming scholars.And on the other hand,the authors find that Kang Youwei discovered new connotation for Wen/Zhi conception with a purpose of showing a new Westernizing direction for China.He also provided legitimated argument for concrete steps of this approach.
