An analysis of relations between anxiety,depression and personality of five-year program nursing students in vocational schools.

Abstract
Objective To explore the relations between anxiety,depression and personality of five-year program nursing students in vocational schools.Methods A total of 282 five-year program nursing students in a vocational school were assessed with Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ).Results The rates of anxiety and depression were found as 16.67% and 36.88 % respectively in the subjects.The scores of the EPQ-N and EPQ-P were both significantly higher in the anxiety and depression groups than those in the control groups(t=-4.31～-6.64,P0.01).The scores of SAS and SDS were positively correlated with EPQ-N and EPQ-P,and negatively correlated with EPQ-E(r=-0.12～0.48,P0.05).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that EPQ-N,EPQ-P and EPQ-L were the main factors influencing anxiety and depression.Conclusion Anxiety and depression are related with personality traits in five-year program nursing students
