Analysis of influencing factors for depression of five-year program nursing students

Objective To explore influencing factors for depression of five-year program nursing students.Methods A total of 282 five-year program nursing students were assessed with a self-designed questionnaire about general data,Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ).Results Single factor Logistic regression analysis indicated that academic record(OR = 0.601,P = 0.019),father's character (OR =0.637,P =0.028)and EPQ-E(OR =0.909,P =0.002)were the protective factors,and EPQ-N(OR =1.189,P=0.000)and EPQ-P(OR = 1.206,P =0.000)were the risk factors for depression.The factors that introduced into multiple Logistic regression were academic record(OR = 0.583,P = 0.033),father's character (OR =0.462,P =0.004)and EPQ-N(OR =2.063,P =0.000).Conclusions According to the factors concerned,the main correlation factors of depression are academic record,father' s character and EPQ-N,and EPQ-P and EPQ-E also influence depression to some extent.
