Abstract

Objective To detect the membrane glycoprotein markers of platelet activation in peripheral blood of patients with cerebral infarction, and to explore their clinical significance. Methods Two surface glycoproteins CD41a and CD62p on peripheral platelets were measured with flow cytometry both for patients with cerebral infarction and health subjects. CD41a and CD62p were also measured consecutively in patients receiving combined treatment of aspirin and clopidogrel. Results The positive rate of CD41a in patients with cerebral infarction was markedly higher than that of health subjects, but there was no significant difference in positive rate of CD62p between two groups. The positive rate of CD41a in the patients with disease onset less than 3 days was higher than those with onset more than 3 days. The positive rate of CD41a in patients receiving combination of aspirin with clopidogrel was lower than that of patients receiving aspirin alone. Conclusion As a marker for activated blood platelets, CD41a can be used to indicate the disease severity and treatment efficacy for patients with cerebral infarction.
