Abstract
The conditions of ultrasonic extraction of total flavonoids in Abrus cantoniensis L. and its ability of free radical scavenging were investigated. The optimized condition of extraction of total flavonoids was examined through single factor test and orthogonal design. The autoxidation of salicylic acid and pyrogallol was used to assay the abilities of the extract of clearing the free radical of ·OH and ·O2-. The most optimal extracting process was ultrasonic extraction four times with 25 times of 70% ethanol by 18 minutes each time.Under this condition, the amount of the total flavonoids of the extract was1.75%. And the abilities of the extract of clearing ·OH and ·O2-enhances with the increase of concentration. it is indicated that the method of ultrasonic extraction could be used to determine the total flavonoids in Abrus cantoniensis L.. And the extract of Abrus cantoniensis L. could effectively clear the free radical of ·OH and ·O2-.
