The Development of Laoshan Taoism in the Qing Dynasty

There appear many excellent Laoshan Taoists of manifold abilities before the reign of Daoguang.Many Taoist temples have been repaired and the number of Laoshan Taoists has increased,which,to some degree,has promoted the development and resurgence of Laoshan Taoism and made the Laoshan Taoism meet its another brilliant period since the reign of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty.After the reign of Daoguang,Laoshan Taoism sees its declining.The quality of Laoshan Taoists has declined obviously and the construction of Taoist temples has remained stagnant.Many Taoist temples have lied waste by the reign of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty.Gradually,Laoshan Taoism has declined.
