Abstract

The callus formation, organ differentiation and plantlet regeneration of Dioscorea panthaica were studied. The results showed that leaves were the best explants for callus induction;medium with 2.0 mg/L 2,4-D and 2.0 mg/L BA was optimal for callus induction;most callus showed shoot differentiation on medium with 1.0 mg/L BA,0.5 mg/L NAA,2% sucrose and pH 6.4,and medium with 0.5 mg/L BA,0.1 mg/L NAA,3% MS sucrose and pH 6.8 allowed for root formation in most of the sub cultured shoots.
