Research on the pad dyeing of wool fabric with chestnut shell pigment

In order to understand pad dyeing properties of wool fabric with natural pigment,padsteam process was used on wool fabric with chestnut shell pigment. The influence of steaming time, steaming temperature,steaming humidity,dye concentration on dyeing properties was investigated. On above basis,the color fastness and fastness of chestnut shell pigment on wool was compared between direct pad dyeing and pre-mordant. The result showed that the optimal process was temperature 110 ℃, humidity 100%,time 30 min,and chestnut shell pigment dyeing fabric reflect good color fastness. The color value and light fastness of dyed fabric were improved by pre-mordant,and different mordants gave dyed fabric different hue.
