Abstract

Aim: To observe the effects of rosuvastatin on the expressions of α-smooth muscle actin( α-SMA) and transforming growth factor-β1( TGF-β1) in rats after myocardial infarction and to discuss the influence mechanism of myocardial remodeling. Methods: The myocardial infarction model was induced by ligation of left anterior descending coronary artery. A total of 30 SD male rats with acute myocardial infarction were randomly divided into the myocardial infarction group and rosuvastatin-treated group; another 15 rats were designed as sham-operated group. Rosuvastatin-treated group was given rosuvastatin at 1 mg / kg after operation, and the other 2 groups were given 2 m L normal saline each day. Four weeks later, the collagen synthesis,α-SMA,TGF-β1 expression were compared. Results: Collagen synthesis,α-SMA,TGF-β1 expression were reduced in the rosuvastatin-treated group compared with rats in the myocardial infarction group( P 0. 05),and the 3 indexes in rosuvastatin-treated group and myocardial infarction group were higher than those of the sham-operated group( P 0. 05). Conclusion: Rosuvastatin could reduce the expression of α-SMA and TGF-β1 in the damaged myocardial tissue.
