Expression and significance of survivin in process of peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer

Objective To explore survivin expression and significance in human gastric cancer and the process of peritoneal metastasis.Methods Expression of survivin was detected by immunohistochemistry(SP) in 48 cases of gastric cancer with or without peritoneal metastasis.Results In group with peritoneal metastasis,the survivin expression of peritoneal metastasis lesions and metastasis lymph nodes were higher than those in primary lesions.In group without peritoneal metastasis,the survivin expression of metastasis lymph nodes were higher than those in primary lesions.High expression level of survivin was observed in peritoneal metastasis lesions than that in primary lesions or lymph nodes of both group(P0.05).However there was no significant different of survivin expression between the two groups primary lesions of gastric cancer with or without peritoneal metastasis,either in lymph nodes of metastasis.Conclusion Over-expression of survivin maybe participate together with development and metastasis of gastric cancer,especially play an special role in peritoneal metastasis of gastric cancer.
