Academic Succession of Zhang Xuecheng's Ancient Prose and Social Network in Cultural Field

Zhang Xuecheng accepted good home education in his childhood and then learned from his patron and friend, Zhu Yun, which laid good foundation for his knowledge of ancient prose (guwen). This paper explores the academic succession of Zhang Xuecheng's ancient prose, and depicts the academic interaction between Zhang and other scholars in the two intellectual circles with Zhu Yun and Zhou Zhenrong as respective leaders. By using Bourdieu's concepts of and capital, it rethinks the origins of ancient prose world of Zhang Xuecheng and the rules of cultural field in the middle Qing period.
