Metaphor Identification and Its Understanding from the Perspective of Subjective Context

Context is one basic concept in pragmatic research. There exist different opinions about the context. On the basis of these different opinions,this paper defines subjective context from cognitive perspective and explores the important role that subjective context plays in metaphor identification and metaphor understanding,and it is proposed that( 1) language users play an objective and effective role in context;( 2) the identification of new metaphor must be combined with context,and its identification is closely collected with the personality,preference,intention and emotion of language users;( 3) subjective context is different,then the understanding of metaphor will be different.
