Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical results by applying the AO hook plate in the treatment of dislocation of acromion-clavicular joint. Methods 16 cases who were classified to modified Rockwood Ⅲ were treatment with AO hook plate. The distal hook of the plate was inserted beneath the acromion without collision to the head of humerus at the position of extreme abduction in order to decrease the intervention to the normal physical structure of the acromion-clavicular joint. All cases can do functional exercises early postoperative without additional external fixation. Results According to the standard JOA shoulder score after mean follow-up one year, 13 cases belong to 90~95 grades while 3 cases belong to 80~90 grades. The comprehensive evaluation was good to fair. Conclusion The AO hook plate is a good alternative in the treatment of dislocation of acromion-clavicular joint for it′s stable fixation, simplicity and good clinical results.
