Modified hook plate from chain plate fixation for dislocation of acromioclavicular joint

Objective To observe the clinical results of the modified hook plate made from chain plate for dislocation of acromioclavicular joint. Methods 6 cases of over type Ⅲ acromioclavicular joint dislocation according to modified Rockwood classification were treated with modified hook plate from chain plate. Results The distal hook made from the modified chain plate was accommodated to the “S” shaped clavicle and could be inserted just beneath the acromion without collision with the head of humerus at the position of extreme abduction or intervention to the normal physical structure of the acromioclavicular joint. All cases could do early functional exercises without additional external fixation. According to the standard JOA shoulder score, after 9 months to 3 years follow-up, the results was 90~95 scores in 5 cases and 80~89 scores in 1. The comprehensive evaluation was excellent and good. Conclusions The modified hook plate is a good alternative for dislocation of acromioclavicular joint for its stable fixation, easily acquirement, simplicity in manipulation and good clinical results.
