Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study antioxidant activity of total flavonoids from Rhododendron anhwiense Wils..METHODS The reducing power, metal chelating ability, scavenging capacity against DPPH·,superoxide anion free radical and sodium nitrite in vitro were investigated.RESULTS The concentration of the total flavonoids of Rhododendron anhwiense was 505 mg·L-1.The total flavonoids exhibited strong reducing power and metal chelating ability. At the same time, the total flavonoids had scavenging capacity against DPPH·,superoxide anion free radical, and sodium nitrite in a concentration-dependent fashion.CONCLUTION The total flavonoids from Rhododendron anhwiense Wils.possess an antioxidant activity in vitro.
