Abstract

At the end of Sue Dynasty,the Eastern Capital Sukhavati Temple where Xuan Zang lived,at that time was inside the Jianyang Gate near the east city wall of Luoyang. And later it moved inside east gate near the city wall. In Wu Zetian's time,it was renamed as Dayun Temple,and in Tang Xuanzong's time it was renamed as Kaiyuan Temple,the temple was abandoned in Huichang year when Tang Wuzong destroyed buddha. Master Jing and Master Yan,whom Xuan Zang followed,were not generally considered the Sukhavati Temple monks,but monks of the Huiri Dojo in the East Capital. There was a collection of the statues in the Sukhavati Temple,the abbot made a joint effort in translating the India prescription,and a number of prominent monks held high-level,large-scale Buddhist lectures that received attention from court Tang Dynasty as well as the folks.
