Abstract
Objective: To measure serum interleukin-10 (IL-10), interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) to assess their correlation with coronary heart disease. Methods: 28 healthy people (control group) and 28 patients (CHD group) diagnosed by cornary angiography with narrow coronary artery were studied. The two groups were matched with sex and age. The serum concentrations of IL-10 and IL-4 from both groups were studied by radio-immunoassay (RIA); IFN-γ was studied by anzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: The serum concentrations of IL-10 showed no significant difference between the CHD group and the control group (P0.05). the serum concentrations of IL-4 were higher in the CHD group compared with the control group (P0.05). the serum concentration of IFN-γ was significantly higher in the CHD group compared with the control group (P0.01). Logistic regression showed that IL-4 and IFN-γ were risk factors for CHK (P0.05). Conclusions: Levels of endogenous IL-10 can not retard the genesis and development of CHD. The increased concentrations of IL-4 and IFN-γ can contribute to the genesis and development of CHD.
