On Adhering to and Developing the Basic Principles of Marxism

The author holds that the process of localizing Marxism and establishing the theoretical system of socialism characteristic of the Chinese style is in itself a process of adhering to and developing the basic principles of Marxism. The key to adhering to and developing the basic principles of Marxism lies in correct understanding of what these principles are. Being the product of practice,the basic principles of Marxism can only be developed in the process of practice and should not be treated with a dogmatic attitude. To maintain the guidance of the developing basic principles of Marxism we should adhere to the theoretical system of socialism characteristic of the Chinese style.
