Abstract

Objective: To observe the effect of Liuwei Dihuang Wan (LDW) on urinary protein in early stage of diabetic nephropa thy (DN). Methods: 68 cases of type II DN were allocated to treatment group (38 cases) and control group (30 cases) randomly. Diabetic diet and oral use of hypoglycemic agents served as the basic treatment in both groups. Captopril was given in the control group, and LDW was added in the treatment group. After treated for 3 months, the urinary protein was examined and compared with that before treatment. Results: In treatment group, 18 cases were markedly effective, 15 cases effective and 5 cases ineffective, the total effective rate being 86. 84% and in control group 10, 13, 7 and 76. 67% respectively ( P 0. 05). After treatment, the urinary protein were decreased in both groups but that in treatment group before and after treatment was very significantly different (P 0.01), and also significantly different as compared with control group ( P 0. 05). Conclusion: LDW can decrease the urinary mi croalbumin in early stage of DN and can control grogress of DN.
