Abstract
DP finish of cotton fabric is carried out with the combination of gelatin and glyoxal. The influences of hydrolysis conditions of gelatin and its combination with glyoxal on crease resistance property of cotton are discussed. The results show that the compound of hydrolyzed gelatin and crosslinker glyoxal has excellent synergic effect. The optimum hydrolysis process of gelatin is hydrolyzed at 40 ℃ for 60 min with the mass ratio of citric acid to dry gelatin of 1 ∶ 8. The optimized finishing process is determined as follows:hydrolyzed gelatin 10 g /L,glyoxal 90 g /L,catalyst aluminum sulfate 30 g /L,pH value 5 ~ 6,padding at 20 ℃,and curing at 140 ℃ for 1. 5 min. The crease recovery angle of cotton fabric increases by 30 % ~ 45 % after finishing and by 20 % after five cycles laundering. The fabric features improved capillary effect, increased moisture absorption, decreased whiteness and significantly reduced tensile strength.
