Abstract
The factors influencing the synthess of cationic chitosan are discussed, the synthesizing conditions of cationic chitosan were opti- mized and the cationic chitosan thus prepared was used as a retention aid in bleaching hardwood pulp. The results indicate that the optimum technological conditions for cationic chitosan synthesis are: chitosan : etherifying agent ( mol ratio ) = 1 : 4, system water content 40%, reaction temperature 85℃, reaction time 8h, with the etherifying agent added in several times. The cationic chitosan prepared had a good retention effect and the filler retention increased by 33.0% when the HTTC dosage was 0.05%.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
