Abstract
Under the optimized condition,carboxymethyl chitosan is prepared by using chitosan.The degree of substitution of sodium carboxymethyl is 0.65 under the optimum reaction condition.Then carboxymethyl chitosan is applied to treat wastewater so that the character difference between modified chitosan and chitosan is determined.The results indicate that carboxymethyl chitosan has better decolorization character(up to 43%) than chitosan,but their chemical oxygen demand(COD) is similar.
