Abstract

Objective To investigate the association between the polymorphism of angiogenesis Ⅱ type 2 receptor(AT2R) gene C3123A and essential hypertension(EH) in Hui population in Ningxia. Methods The genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood in 133 EH patients and 105 normal-tensive(NT) subjects in the Hui population in Ningxia. The C3123A point mutation of AT2R gene was detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP),for analysis of the distribution of AT2R gene C3123A genotypes and alleles and the correlation between AT2R polymorphism and hypertension risk. Results In female subgroup: the genotype frequencies of CC,AC and AA were 32.9%,57.0% and 10.1%,respectively,in EH group;while those in normal group were 36.0%,60.0% and 4.0%,respectively;with no significant difference between the 2 groups(P0.05);the allelic frequencies of C and A were 61.4% and 38.6% in EH group, while they were 66.0% and 34.0% in normal group(P0.05).In male subgroup: the allelic frequencies of C and A were 81.5% and 18.5% in EH group, while they were 83.6% and 16.4% in normal group(P0.05).According to binary stepwise logistic regression analysis, triglyceride, body mass index(BMI),creatinine were independent risk factors of EH,while glucose(GLU) as protective factor in famale subgroup;whereas BMI and blood urea nitrogen(BUN) were risk factors of EH,while GLU as protective factor in males. Conclusion There is no significant association between the C3123A polymorphism of AT2R gene and EH in Hui population in Ningxia.
