Abstract
BT and WA type rice cytoplasmic male sterility (cms) lines were compared with their maintainer,restorer and F 1 hybrid by using RFLP analysis.The results showed:(1) polymorphism were found between BT and WA type cms lines;(2) difference could be detected between cms line and its maintainer,so we inferred that mtDNA may be associated with cms in rices;(3) RFLP polymorphic patterns were identified between cms line and its F 1 hybrid by using atp9,Frag36 and Frag9 as probes,which revealed that nuclear background has an influence on the existence of mitochondrial DNA;(4) relationship between organization of mitochondiral and cytoplasmic male sterility was discussed.
