The clinical significance of NFκB/p65 expression in ovarian tumor

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of NFκB family proteins in ovarian tumor. Methods 40 patients with primary ovarian epithelial cancer, 8 with borderline epithelial tumor, 15 with benign epithelial tumor and 5 with normal ovarian tissue were detected and analyzed for their NFκB/p65 protein expression level with immunohistochemical method, the paraffin- embedded tissue sections were incubated with anti- p65 antibody. Result The positive rate of p65 expression in ovarian benign epithelial tumors, borderline epithelial tumors and malignant epithelial tumors was 26.7 %, 37.5 % and 72.5 % respectively; the statistical evaluation showed that the expression of NFκB/p65 protein had a close relation with histological differentiation, clinical stages, lymph node metastasis, and tumor size in ovarian cancer (P 0.05). Conclusions NFκB/p65 expression is closely correlated with the ovarian tumor stages, lymph node metastasis and tumor size, which, together with other indexes, may be as an index for prognosis of ovarian tumor, and will be significant for instructing further treatment.
