Abstract
Objective To observe the sedative effect of dexmedetomidine used for the ICU patients,and explore the different in safety and other aspects.Methods Fifty patients with severe trauma in ICU requiring mechanical ventilation were randomly divided into 2 groups;A midazolam group (n=25) and B dexmedetomidine group (n=25).Recorded the APACHEⅡ score and Ramsay score before sedation.Then severally observe and record heart rate,blood mean arterial pressure,respiratory rate,the oxygen saturation,and other basic vital signs at 4,6 and 12 hours after administration and the two drugs' onset time,recovery time,sedation satisfaction,Ramsay score,and the incidence of delirium,etc.Results The blood pressure,and heart rate decreased significantly but soon recovered after treatment in the group B,while the oxygen saturation on the respiratory effects were less than in group A,so group B had good security;and compared to the amount of midazolam alone,adjusting pump speed to the sedation time satisfaction,satisfaction with sedation,recovery time,group B were significantly less than group A (P 0.05).Conclusion Dexmedetomidine sedation for the intensive care unit patient is safe,and can provide good sedation.
