Abstract
A new reagent 1-(4,5-dimethoxy-2-benzoicacid)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)-triazene(DMBANPT) has been synthesized and the color reaction of DMBANPT with Cadmium(Ⅱ) has been studied. At the presence of Triton X-100,the reagent reacts with Cadmium(Ⅱ) to form a red complex with the molar ratio of 3:1 in pH 9.2 NH3-NH4Cl buffer solution. The maximum absorbtion of the complex is at 530 nm,and the apperent molar absorbtivity is 1.96 ×105 L /(mol.cm.) Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0~10 μg/25 mL for Cadmium(Ⅱ).The method has been applied to determine cadmium(Ⅱ) in waste water with satisfactory results.
