Abstract
This paper reported the synthesis of a new reagent 1-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-(methy benzene)-triazene(NPMT) and its color reaction with cadmium(Ⅱ).In the presence of the surfactant Triton X-100 and in the medium Na2B4O7-NaOH of pH 11.0,the regent reacted with cadmium(Ⅱ) to form a 4∶1 orange-yellow complex. The maximum absorption wavelength was at 465 nm.The molar absorptivity was 2.13×106 L·mol-1·cm-1.Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0.08~0.48 μg/mL of cadmium(Ⅱ).The method had been applied to determine cadmium(Ⅱ) in waster water samples with satisfactory results.
