Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the clinical therapeutic efficacy of valasartan combined with enalapril on the treatment of congestive heart failure(CHF). Methods: 66 patients treated with conventional therapy (digitals, diuretics, β-blocking therapy) are randomly assigned to receive enalapril 10~20 mg/d and valasartan 80 mg/d combinination(the treatment group n =33) or enalapril 10~20 mg/d alone (the control group n =33). The changes of NYHA class,blood electrolytes?liver and renal function?electrocardiogram and echocardiography were examined, 6 min walk trial was analyzed. Results: After eight weeks therapy, although LV end-distolic Volume(EDV), LV end-systolic volume (ESV), left ventricular gjection fraction(EF), cardiac output (CO), cardiac index(CI), NYHA class were improved significantly in both groups (P 0.05); however, LVEDV, LVESV, EF and 6 min walk trial were ameliorated more substantially in the treatment group than those in the control group (P 0.05). No significant changes of liver and renal function were found in both groups with little difference in the freguency of adverse reaction between them (P 0.05). Conclusions: Valsartan combined with enalapril is more effective than enalapril alone in the treatment of the patients with CHF.
